My Radio Show Script
Presenter: Hello and welcome 'Mindset' a brand-new talk show with me Madi Crowther. This is a radio show that is sponsored by 3 mobile. During this series, we will be exploring the mindsets of people on a range of different topics, representing different generations and seeing if we can learn from each other and share experiences for the better. Today we are going to be introducing two volunteers who are going to be questioned and spoken to about their opinion on Social Media. This is a well known topic to be discussed in society because many people have their own opinion on it and how it effects people on a daily basis.
The two volunteers are from different backgrounds and both which have different experiences with social media. One is a 35 year old male, Ash Smith and the other is a 17 year old female Lydia Barker.
Ash Smith has experienced many different things through social media. He works as an 'Online Adviser' helping people with everything from online bullying to how to deal with threatening situations and protecting your data. Therefore, he has volunteered to talk about his experiences and what he has to deal with on a daily basis due to social media.

Presenter: Hello, welcome to the radio show Mindset, how are you today?
Ash: Hi, I'm good thank you.
Presenter: Today I'm going to be asking you a variety of questions highlighting on your opinion on social media, how does that sound?
Ash: Yeah, that sounds great
Presenter: Amazing! Lets get started.

As you know, many peoples lives evolve around the internet and social media and this has been the case for most people since the late 1900 to the early 2000s. Many people have experienced good and bad from social media, however, it is stated on the BBC that it affects teenagers more than anyone else.
How much do you agree with this statement?
Ash: To a certain extent I do agree with this statement, however it needs to be elaborated on. The reason for this is because yes, the younger generation uses social media like snapchat, Facebook or Instagram a lot more than the older people which will trigger the aspect of bullying and comparing themselves to one another. Due to this, it can create elements of low self esteem and anxiety.
But on the other hand, no, because social media does have a massive affect on adults as well. This could be from how people do things on a daily basis like cooking and cleaning to the extent of judgement on how people live as a family from people doing something different from one another.
Presenter: Thank you for your collaboration with the question you have been given to answer. Next speaking is Lydia Barker. Lets give her a call.
[PHONE RINGS]
Presenter: Hello and welcome to the radio show Mindset. We have just been speaking to Ash Smith about his opinion on social media and now we would like you as our second volunteer to share your thoughts on social media.
In your opinion, do you think social media affects people with their appearance?
Lydia: In some ways yes. The reason I say this is because over the years there as been a stereotype that has been created with both males and females on how they should look and present themselves. In my opinion people should be able to be themselves and dress and look how they want without the fear of being stared at.
Presenter: What stereotype personally do you think has been created?
Lydia: Well, as social media has become more popular over the years many stereotypes have been produced, males feeling like they have to be tall and muscular and females feeling like they have to be slim with an outer glass figure. Not everyone feels this particular way, however, many do.
Presenter: Thank you for participating in the radio show today, and next week we will be discussing the publics opinion on education. We are looking for three participants to be interviewed like Ash and Lydia today. You can apply by going on to our website at www.MINDSET.org.uk and select 'applying for next weeks show'. Until next time, see you later.
