Main Task: Statement of intent

Name of channel

. Toxic

Genre: Horror

My Tv adverts a new horror TV channel called 'Toxic' I will aim to create a brand identity that is showing a sensitive but strong message which is showing what someone so innocent actually thinks about themselves. This presents the idea of something chilling and a message which isn't normally spread across the society. This topic has been overlooked for so long which made me want to spread the word that its okay to feel a certain way. My four adverts will focus on a female character and the struggles she faces in everyday life and what her mind is making her believe. This then ventures out which sets a wider scene to show that peoples wording can be effecting someone without them actually knowing. My characters will be shown as individuals who are vulnerable to the world. This suggests that you don't know someone's story and you don't what they are feeling inside.

With my channel i will try and broaden the idea of horror programming by looking at everyday non-fiction and fictionalised horror which will cause a sense of awareness amongst the audience as to the real life horrors that some people experience. Typical programmes may include people's real life experiences of attacks, abuse or bullying and the psychological traumas that result from these. This is why my adverts will seek to have an empowering and educational message. It fits the horror genre in the way that programmes will create a sense of dread but rather than seek to entertain, these programmes will look to inform the audience about people's lived experiences.

I will aim to use media language in a way that includes inter-textual references to a well known bullying post...

I think it important that such a well know post is highlighted and made into something people think so highly of. I will include many different shots in my adverts which increase tension for the audience. The lighting is also a main section in my work because it will set the mood and build suspense  which needs to be created for the audience to realise the seriousness of the piece. However, the main focus with this piece of work would be how it is put together. This is really important because getting the message across in an acceptable manner could change the way people act in the future.
For the music, I will have four different tracks for each advert. Two of them have voice overs with a song playing behind them. One of them is a backing track of a song until the end when a scream overpowers the ending, and the last music clip is a section of a song. The app which I used is called Audacity, and I edited the tracks on my laptop.

The four adverts will work well together to create a coherent brand identity to be shown to the age of 14+. People could think this is a little bit to extreme for young viewers, however, teenagers are the main culprit of bullying without actually realising the affects it can have on someone. It is important for people to know how something which seems so small, e.g. name-calling, can imprint on an individual life. As a producer, I am trying to create a stronger message be spread across society.

The slogan I am going to use for my adverts is: 'Stop labelling people just because they're not like you'. I think personally this gets the message across and that it makes people stop and realise what there actions are creating.

In my filming for the third advert I have used two main props. These are pills in a tube and a knife which has fake blood on. This is to represent different types of self harm.

When putting my clips together I have used a variety of boarders around the videos to show different perspectives from the point of view of the individuals lives. As well as this, I have also used landscape and portrait boarders because if a normal person was recording something they would most likely use a portrait recording and if it was a more deliberate, thought out recording, people would chose to film in landscape. To further is, a portrait recording or photograph can be seen as a more personal clip, than if it was landscape.
